Kherson railway station was opened in 1907. On October 16, 1907, the first train started running in the Kherson – Mykolaiv direction. At the very beginning, the station had only 4 railroad tracks; now there are 22 tracks. The railway station building was reconstructed twice – in 1961 and 2003. The last reconstruction recreated the look that the station had 100 years ago.
Kherson railway station belongs to the Odesa Railways. Long-distance, suburban and international trains run through the station. Every traveler can easily get from the Kherson railway station to Moscow and back by train. It is also possible to travel from Kherson to Kyiv, the journey time being between 7 and 13 hours. To get to the nearest region center, Mykolaiv, a passenger will spend from 40 minutes to 1 hour 9 minutes.
